IMEG provided structural engineering and design services for Crescent Nob Hill, a LEED Gold 7-story new multi-family residential building over 2 levels of basement for residential parking, storage and mechanical located at the top of Nob Hill at the intersection of Powell and California Streets, a tight urban site in San Francisco. Designed to blend in stylistically with iconic Nob Hill, the developer worked closely with the community in a series of workshops. The luxury condominium building project features 44 residences with a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units with high-end custom features, bay windows, a stately marble and Venetian plaster lobby, landscaped garden and roof terraces. The 65-foot-tall structure also includes an underground garage, which would be accessed by way of California Street, and provide parking for 48 cars and 86 bikes.

The gravity system consists of post-tension concrete slabs sup-ported by non-frame reinforced concrete columns from Level 3 to the roof structure. The lateral force resisting system consists of special concrete shear walls located at building core and building perimeter. The structure is supported on 2’-0” to 3’-0” thick spread footings under the gravity columns; 3’-0” thick strip footing along the basement wall and mat footing under the shear walls and core walls ranging from 3’-0” to 5’-9” thick. The foundation is bearing on Franciscan bedrock.
