IMEG providing civil engineering, surveying, for upgrades to Independence National Historic Park
Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia – home to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Benjamin Franklin Museum, and the Merchant Exchange Building – will receive a $1.4 million upgrade to improve pedestrian safety and improve stormwater management.
IMEG is providing civil engineering and christopher consultants, now IMEG, is providing survey services for a plan to redesign historic Dock Street from South Third Street to Walnut Street to improve safety for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, while also channeling stormwater to the sewer.
The work is expected to be completed in 2023 and includes:
- Replacing damaged cobblestone pavement, manholes, storm inlets, bluestone crosswalks, stone curbing, stone-lined gutters, traffic bollards, directional and interpretive signage, and walkway lighting
- Restoring landscape – planting trees and replacing groundcover
- Repairing stormwater management systems to prevent ponding and repairing site lighting systems and controls.
