MetroHealth opens its $759 million Cleveland hospital tower to patients
The first patients entered MetroHealth’s $759 million Glick Center in November.
The new 370-bed hospital is part of a $946 million renovation of its Cleveland campus. The 300,000-sf, 11-floor facility will seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver and WELL building certifications.
IMEG was the executive engineer for MetroHealth Transformation, the multi-year, multi-phase renovation plan. Engineers created a detailed facility assessment of program, building and space needs on the 52-acre urban site. They also developed a first design with recommended system options and evaluated siting selections. IMEG also is providing commissioning services.
The revitalization will reduce overall building space from 3 million-sf to 2.2 million-sf, and nearly half of the campus will be green space. Other projects include an affordable housing complex and mixed-use commercial space, a new six-floor outpatient care building and cancer center, and a parking garage.
