Gustavus Adolphus opens Lund Center expansion
Gustavus Adolphus College has completed the first phase expansion of Lund Center, the campus athletics hub.
The $24.6 million first phase included a 72,000-sf athletic and fitness center addition, 10,000-sf of expanded weight room space, 10,000-sf of group fitness and cardio space, new locker rooms, a student lounge, and recruiting suite.
IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design and commissioning and energy modeling services for the project, which is seeking LEED certification.
Fundraising is underway for the second phase, which will include a new Human Performance Lab, classrooms, faculty offices, a field house, an athletic training suite for athletes, and an 118-seat lecture hall.
The expansion will add 160,000-sf to the Lund Center, for a total of 365,000-sf. The facility had not been renovated since it opened in 1984.
