Two IMEG-engineered projects win American Architecture Awards
Two IMEG-engineered projects have been named American Architecture Award — Schools & Universities category winners for 2022.
Iowa State University Student Innovation Center
The $60 million, 146,323-sf, student-centric building houses a variety of spaces for students to collaborate and experiment. It includes fabrication areas for electronics, woodworking and textiles, metal working and engine test bays, a test kitchen, and a store selling products the students make. The five-story LEED Gold-certified building also houses meeting rooms and breakout spaces, study and collaboration areas, administrative space, student organization offices, and a café.
The architects were Kieran Timberlake and Substance Architecture.
IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, acoustics, technology engineering design services, energy modeling, construction administration services, and a life cycle cost study.
The center has previously won the 2021 Master Builders of Iowa Master Awards and ENR Midwest Best Project Award and is shortlisted for THE PLAN award 2022 in the Education category.

The Holdsworth Center is a training and leadership retreat campus for Texas public school educators. The 44-acre campus in Austin includes 18 buildings, 186 guest rooms, classrooms, collaboration areas, and a large event space, giving educators a place to grow, learn, collaborate, reflect, and gather information to take back to their districts.
Lead architects were David Lake and Ted Flato; associate architect was Looney & Associates.
IMEG provided technology engineering design and services for the project.
