Historic Nathanial Carr Senior Apartments project has broken ground in Charlotte, NC
West Side Community Land Trust and Soho Housing Partners have broken ground on the Historic Nathanial Carr Senior Apartments on the west side of Charlotte, NC.
The $31 million project will bring 120 affordable senior living units to the Carr Heights neighborhood. It is named for Nathanial Carr, a Black farmer and developer, who, along with his wife, Lizzie, developed the neighborhood in 1924 for Black homeowners.
McVeigh & Mangum Engineering, now IMEG, is providing structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for the project.
Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
