New High School
IMEG provided plumbing and fire protection engineering design services, as well as construction administration, for the new state-of-the art high school in Billerica, Mass. The 335,000-sf facility features an auditorium, black-box theater, 17,000-sf gymnasium, and multiple hands-on learning spaces, including tech shops, robotics and engineering labs, CAD drafting labs, and early childhood and culinary curriculum. The outdoor spaces include two turf athletic fields with bleachers, concession stands, and a common area with space for outdoor dining.
Serving as the fire protection engineer-of-record, IMEG was responsible for the review and approval oversight of the fire protection subcontractor’s installation documents, shop drawings, and calculations. Design included new fire service, wet and dry sprinkler, and standpipe systems.
IMEG also provided process control design, the plumbing and fire protection commissioning plan, and coordinated projected gas loads and existing connection tie-ins with the utility companies.
