New Test Facility
IMEG provided engineering design for General Motors’ new 111,420-sf, $200M Powertrain Performance Racing Center addition to the Global Propulsion Engineering Development Center. The new facility has a full machine shop and validation center to develop, maintain, and build five of GM’s numerous competitive powertrains.
The center also can develop and create engines from scratch, employing its 10 engine build bays, more than 30 machining tools, a 3D printer, and an electronics lab. The complex includes four high-performance engine dyno cells, including two gas powered dynos, one gas-powered driveline dyno, and an electric driveline dyno – each capable of handling around 850 HP to 1,000 HP, and engine speeds as high as 12,000 rpm, depending on dyno.
