Terminal 3 Modernization Project
IMEG provided commissioning authority services for the five-year, three-phase modernization of the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Terminal 3. Our commissioning scope of work included schematic design through warranty phase of the project, performing or overseeing the commissioning of all MEP systems, building envelope, roofing, passenger boarding bridges, and baggage handling systems. IMEG provided direct commissioning services for HVAC systems including a new 4,000-ton central plant, all mechanical systems, electrical, lighting controls, plumbing, fire alarm, fire suppression, and assisted with the commissioning of baggage handling systems. Additional services provided by our commissioning team included:
- Reviewed construction design and construction documentation
- Visited the airport construction site to assess progress and ensure that work went smoothly and as the documents stipulated
- Performed functional testing for completed electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building automation systems to verify operation in accordance with the design documentation requirements
Changes to the main terminal building included a consolidated security checkpoint, additional baggage-handling capacity, new food and retail concessions, and an expanded curb for drop-off and pickup were also included in the project. The South Concourse was replaced by a new, 15-gate structure parallel to the main building. The North Concourse now has upgraded concessions and other amenities.
