New Gateway Building
IMEG provided engineering design and services for the University of Wyoming’s new, 67,000-sf Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, which serves as a portal to the university.
The Gateway Center houses recruiting offices for the university, a Legacy Display Hall, and several ballrooms that can combine into one large event ballroom with serving kitchen. The offices on the second and third floors house the fundraising functions of the Alumni Association and serve
to facilitate the administrative functions of UW’s recruiting and Alumni Association. Custom spaces include the office of the UW Foundation President and associated secretarial, meeting, and conference rooms.
The design includes electrified wall and furniture systems to provide
power and data needs to the offices and conference room spaces. The large ballrooms require large restroom facilities, so engineers designed
the system to accommodate the needs of over 100 water fixtures across three floors. Hot and cold domestic water needs were designed for multiple restroom stacks as well as the serving kitchen.
Engineers designed the building mechanical and electrical systems to LEED Silver standards. The extensive use of LED lighting significantly reduced energy costs while delivering a unique and expressive illumination signature throughout. Exterior color-shifting LED fixtures illuminate the stone-like surfaces of the structure and extenuate the unique and distinctive flair of building’s outline while allowing the university the choice to shift color to fit the season or event.
