Kaiser Permanente’s new Radiation Oncology Treatment Center at the Bellflower Medical Offices campus in Bellflower, CA, is Kaiser Permanente’s fourth radiation therapy site in the Southern California region.

The 32,000-sf facility will include a medical office building housing nine providers, nine exam rooms, three linear accelerators, three MRI machines, and a shelled space with no interior finishing for future technology.

IMEG is providing structural engineering design and construction administration services as a sub-consultant to architect SLAM Collaborative.

IMEG’s work has included:

  • Preliminary consultation on structural framing types, column layout, framing depths, and floor-to- floor heights
  • Analysis, design, and detailing for an oval and rectilinear building structure
  • Final structural design analysis
  • Revised structural engineering framing to accommodate a switch from ASTM A 1085 grade HSS to ASTM A 500 Grade C (50ksi steel) HSS
  • Coordinate with architectural and MEP teams for the removal and addition of HVAC and domestic water equipment and equipment pads on the roof
