The project: IMEG developed multiple options for relighting the existing Lumen Field Stadium roof arches in Seattle WA.

Project amenities: Lumen Field, a 68,740-capacity stadium, is home to the Seattle Seahawks football team, the Seattle Sounders, and the Seattle Reign soccer teams. Working with First & Goal, one approach was selected and mocked up on-site.

Design approach: IMEG was contracted to provide lighting solutions for the stadium roof signage re-brand. The client also determined that the existing arch lighting should be updated alongside the signage so that neither element overrode the other. As Lumen Field was also being re-roofed, it was decided that any rooftop re-lighting should be included in the design with consideration to the new branding signage.

The proposed schemed utilized the electrical stub outs and DMX control systems of the existing spotlights to minimize cost and labor. Computer photometric models constructed using as-built drawings confirmed lighting output and beam spreads before bringing five fully controllable RGBW spotlights onsite for two separate mockups.

Project outcome: Although pleased with the result, First & Goal has postponed the construction of the new lighting scheme due to a significant increase in material prices during this period.
