Two IMEG engineers have been named ENR Top Young Professionals for 2025 in their respective regions.

Venkatesh (VJ) Janakiraman, Senior Electrical Engineer in IMEG’s Scottsdale, AZ, office was named to the ENR Mountain States & Southwest Top Young Professionals list. Growing up in India, frequent power outages sparked VJ’s curiosity about electrical systems and led him to pursue a career in electrical engineering with a specialty in energy and power systems. He works on some of IMEGs most technically demanding projects, including a lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in Indiana—IMEG’s industrial sector’s largest and most significant MEP design project to date. VJ is also deeply involved in mentoring and encouraging students at Arizona State University, where he received his master’s degree, and is an active member of the ASU mentor network. He also teaches robotics to children in his neighborhood.

Garrett Gonzalo, Client Executive in IMEG’s Detroit, MI, office was named to the ENR Midwest list. An experienced mechanical engineer, Garrett leads one of IMEG’s only chemical process engineering teams and some of the firm’s largest industrial projects. He’s also active in his community, serving on a school board, providing career advice and resources to young golf caddies through the Western Golf Association Leadership Council’s Detroit chapter, and coaching two local youth soccer teams.

VJ and Garrett will be featured in their respective regional editions of ENR early next year and will go on to compete in the national ENR Top 20 under 40.
