This 17,000-sf, single-level space marks the second U.S. location of the iconic M&M’s World concept, following the success of the original Las Vegas prototype that opened in
1997. However, Ethel M Chocolates sought a fresh, innovative design to elevate the brand experience for both locals and the lucrative tourist market. Central to the space design was the creation of a vibrant, immersive environment that would engage customers and showcase the brand’s playful, colorful spirit.

Lighting played a key role in achieving this dynamic and interactive experience. IMEG’s lighting design team (Illuminating Concepts) provided interior and theatrical lighting design, procurement, on-site project management, and programming for this project. The design integrates saturated, bold colors of M&M’s branding, using accent lighting and LED strips to create visual interest throughout the store. The lighting is tailored to highlight specific product displays, ensuring the candy products themselves are illuminated in eye-catching ways while creating an energetic atmosphere. Custom interactive lighting features also invite visitors to engage with the space, adding an element of fun and surprise.

Strategically placed ambient lighting is used to set the mood in different zones, enhancing the experience across areas like the M&M’s personalization station and the interactive art displays. The lighting emphasizes the store’s vibrant aesthetic while reinforcing the playful, larger-than-life brand identity that defines M&M’s. Together, these lighting elements create an energetic, immersive environment that draws in customers and keeps them engaged.
