St. Mary Mercy Chapel wins AIA Michigan and masonry awards
St. Mary Mercy Hospital’s new chapel in Livonia – featuring design by IMEG – has received the M-Award for Design Excellence from the Masonry Institute of Michigan as well as the 2019 AIA Michigan Design Award.
IMEG provided MEP and technology design for the $2.5 million chapel, which opened in September 2018 and features a modern look with abundant natural light. According to a story published by Hometown Life, the new space features an alter made of limestone excavated from Wisconsin and items such as the Stations of the Cross coming from closed parishes in Wisconsin and Ohio. The tabernacle came from All Saints Catholic Church in southwest Detroit, which closed late last year.
