Butler University’s student residence hall for first-year students, Irvington House, earned LEED Gold after it opened in the fall of 2018. IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and acoustics design, as well as energy modeling and construction administration for the $31 million facility.

Students living in Irvington House have access to a cardio fitness room, indoor and outdoor study lounges, and recreation center and social lounge with a pool table, ping pong table, and arcade games. A standard suite includes two double rooms connected by a shared bathroom.

Among the LEED Gold features, the project reduced water flow by using low flush fixtures which decrease potable water by more than 46%, resulting in 3.5 million gallons of water saved per year.

Irvington House is the second Butler University dorm for which IMEG has provided engineering services; the first dorm project, Fairview House, was completed in 2016.
