The project: A new 90,000-sf, state-of-the-art learning facility that is part of Guilford County Schools’ broader initiative to modernize educational infrastructure and enhance sustainability across the district.

Project approach: Working in close coordination with project stakeholders and NOVA Engineering—who delivered building envelope commissioning—IMEG ensured all systems were fully functional, code-compliant, and optimized for long-term performance.

Commissioned systems included:

  • AHU/RTU Units
  • Exhaust Air Systems
  • Electric Heaters
  • Building Automation System
  • Energy Recovery Systems
  • Water Heaters
  • Plumbing Fixtures
  • Air Compressors

IMEG developed the commissioning plan, conducted regular site inspections, verified proper equipment installation, maintained an issues log for the project team, and managed pre-functional checklists and functional performance testing. All activities were aligned with best practices for K-12 educational environments, supporting critical goals around system reliability, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency.

The outcome: The successful completion of Claxton Elementary in 2024 underscores IMEG’s ability to deliver high-performance commissioning services that support sustainable design and ensure operational readiness from day one.
