The project: Syngenta’s Greensboro campus, a long-established hub since 1960 for North American Crop Protection, underwent a comprehensive modernization. The project blends advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics to enhance operational safety and efficiency. A new Customer Experience Center now facilitates interactive tours, collaboration, and innovation, while integrated lab and office renovations transform the site into a future-ready headquarters

The goal: The primary objective was to revitalize Syngenta’s aging Greensboro facilities to support cutting-edge crop science research and operations. The upgrade aimed to promote closer collaboration among teams, attract and retain top talent, heighten safety, and strengthen community engagement through the customer experience center

The design:

  • Laboratory and R&D Renovation: Approximately 102,000-sf of existing lab and R&D space were fully overhauled to meet modern standards for collaboration, safety, and technological integration
  • New Office Construction: A contemporaneous 100,000-sf office facility was constructed – adjacent to the renovated labs – to include Class-A workspaces, collaborative zones, wellness areas, an auditorium, and a conference center
  • Customer Experience Center: Housed within the lab connector, the experience center allows for interactive tours and stakeholder engagement, seamlessly blending with amenity features like a coffee bar and rooftop lounge
  • Technology Integration: Robotics and AI systems were incorporated campus-wide to increase safety, streamline operations, and support future scalability

The outcome: The revitalized campus now spans approximately 200,000-sf of new and renovated spaces across three interconnected buildings. It supports approximately 700-750 staff and contract personnel in a modern, cohesive environment. Syngenta’s Greensboro headquarters now serves as a regional innovation anchor and demonstrates the company’s commitment to agriculture, community, and technological advancement.
