IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology engineering design services for the 360,000-sf new Greene County Sherriff’s Office and Jail, located on a 23-acre greenfield site in western Springfield. The new 289,350-sf jail increases bed capacity to over 1,200, arranged in dorm-style pods.

Attached to the jail is the new multi-service Sheriff’s office and training building. The 62,000-sf Sheriff’s building is comprised of jail administration, records, locker/showers, and service and dining areas. The 4,700-sf training building houses four classrooms, evidence storage, drug storage, vehicle processing, a K-9 area, and armory. Other additional building services include a 2,700-sf vehicle storage building and 1,250-sf of support services including 16 video court booths, booking, bonding, warrants, transportation, kitchen, laundry, and medical facilities.

Engineering Designs: The HVAC system is a four-pipe type with roof-mounted air handling units and energy recovery for the housing area. Magnetic bearing water-cooled chilled and high-efficiency condensing hot water boilers were also provided.
