IMEG Landscape Architect Paul Clinton, PLA, will present “The Untold Story of the Five Pollinator Plots on I-29” at the American Society of Landscape Architects Central States Conference on April 17 in St. Louis.

The session highlights the development and ongoing monitoring of five pollinator habitat plots at South Dakota DOT rest areas along the I-29 corridor in eastern South Dakota. Designed to support monarch butterflies and other pollinators, the approximately 75-acre initiative applies prairie ecology, plant science, and landscape performance metrics to restore and strengthen fragmented migration corridors.

Clinton will share lessons learned in seed mix design, invasive species management, and long-term stewardship, including the use of Floristic Quality Assessment and drone technology to track milkweed populations. The presentation underscores IMEG’s science- and technology-based approaches to restoring, preserving, and reintroducing native prairie landscapes.
