The project: IMEG served as the Commissioning Agent for the construction of LifeServe Blood Center’s new 56,000-sf headquarters facility. This two-story building supports a wide range of critical operations for the region’s sole provider of blood and blood products to local healthcare facilities.

The goal: The primary goal is to deliver a high-performing, resilient, and energy-efficient facility capable of supporting LifeServe’s 24/7 mission. The project must ensure reliability across diverse spaces – including donation, laboratory, storage, distribution, and administrative areas—while empowering the Owner to manage the building efficiently into the future.

The design: The facility incorporates cutting-edge mechanical systems, including a heat recovery modular chiller/boiler paired with a geothermal wellfield. Airside systems feature VAV air handling units with hot water reheat terminal units, controlled by a high-performance Building Automation System (BAS) designed for redundancy and continuous operation—even during maintenance events. IMEG is embedded within the project team, overseeing functional performance testing to ensure systems perform as designed and that operational expectations are fully met.

The outcome: IMEG’s involvement helped ensure that the Owner receives not just a technically sophisticated building, but one that is truly aligned with their operational needs. Through thorough testing and active collaboration, the team is setting the stage for a facility that exceeds performance expectations and empowers LifeServe staff to operate with confidence, efficiency, and resilience.
