IMEG provided mechanical, electrical, and technology design services for the new Sheakley Indoor Practice Facility and Athletic Performance Center. The University of Cincinnati requested design services for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility, located at the northwest corner of Corry Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue.

The Indoor Practice Facility portion, to the east, is a 90,000-sf, fully-conditioned indoor field, available for use by all athletic programs, as well as club sports and student recreational uses.

The Athletic Performance Center, to the west, is a 120,000-sf, three-story facility, housing strength and conditioning spaces, daily-use locker rooms, physical and aquatic therapy, offices, team meeting rooms, a recruiting suite, media suite, video production, kitchen/servery with indoor and outdoor dining, and related functions to primarily support football operations.

The indoor practice field is served by two air rotation units, which provide heating or cooling of the field, though the space also contains ventilation fans for temperate weather periods. The owners were concerned about coverage of such a large space, so IMEG was requested to provide a CFD model to show both air movement and temperature within the space. Design proceeded after the CFD modeling confirmed satisfactory air and temperature distribution.
