IMEG is providing engineering design services for the Phase 2 modernization of the Quad Cities International Airport terminal in Moline, Ill.

Phase 2 is the largest and most publicly visible component of the airport’s renovation initiative, encompassing nearly all public-facing spaces between the terminal entrance and the TSA checkpoint, areas that were last substantially updated nearly 40 years ago. The approximately $19 million phase began construction in April 2026.

IMEG’s work includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design and commissioning services for renovations designed to improve passenger comfort, accessibility, and the overall traveler experience. Planned improvements include expanded ADA-compliant restrooms, enhanced wayfinding and digital signage, upgraded vestibules, modernized rental car facilities, new meeting spaces, and an outdoor terrace for visitors and passengers. Interior renovations will also replace existing brick flooring with terrazzo surfaces and introduce more open, light-filled public spaces.

The project is part of the airport’s broader Project GATEWAY initiative, a multi-phase program focused on improving operational efficiency, passenger experience, and long-term sustainability. In May, the airport received a $3.3 million Federal Aviation Administration Airport Terminal Program grant to support Phase 2 construction.
