IMEG Mechanical Engineer Grant Nook, PE, and Project Executive and Lead Mechanical Engineer Luke Streit, PE, CCASS, wrote “IMEG Saves 1 Million Gallons of Water Per Year at a Water Utility,” which details how IMEG helped a Midwest water utility reduce potable water use for two critical diesel engines. The existing once-through cooling systems consumed nearly 1 million gallons of water annually. IMEG evaluated multiple options before selecting closed-loop cooling with dry fluid coolers, which eliminated the need for a constant water supply during operation.
