County Administration Center Renovation
IMEG has been entrusted by the County of San Diego to perform major system renovations for the Historic San Diego County Administration Center Building (CAC). The CAC project is being designed and constructed in multiple phases and all field investigation and construction must be performed after hours to ensure the daily use of the County offices are not disrupted.
This project includes replacement of emergency generators and the building’s elevator equipment/systems based on a previous study completed by IMEG. Additional replacements and upgrades to the building include:
- LED lighting
- Fire sprinkler system
- Electrical outlets
- Data drops
- Air handler units
- Fire alarm system
- Electrical panels
- HVAC controls
- Piping
- Ductwork
- Domestic hot and cold water piping system
- Renovations to the 3rd floor Board Chambers
As a historic building, the CAC is home to features dating back to the 1930s when it was commissioned by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The building houses irreplaceable architecture, fixtures and décor from that era. Emphasis on preservation of the existing structure, both inside and out, can make a major renovation project in any part of a building like this one incredibly complicated, which is why the County of San Diego has chosen IMEG to perform the renovation to this historic building.
