Benedictine University’s new Daniel L. Goodwin Hall of Business, the largest classroom building on campus, is an innovative, high-tech facility offering students hands-on, forward-thinking business training and the resources needed to be competitive in the global workplace.

The four-story building features a 600-seat auditorium, state-of-the-art trading lab, and a 6,000-square-foot “Global Hall” entrance area that includes a digital stock ticker and billboard-sized high-definition media wall that can broadcast business news from across the world. In addition to numerous interactive classrooms, labs and study spaces, Goodwin Hall also includes a Starbucks Café on the second floor; 150-seat and 80-seat seminar rooms on the third floor; a banquet facility and terrace event space on the fourth floor. The technology throughout the building enables students to work collaboratively; comfortable spaces allow them to meet for group projects and check email between sessions.

As part of the project IMEG relocated the campus steam distribution piping to accommodate the Goodwin Hall of Business as well as Kindlon Hall and reconnected to the existing steam to hot water heat exchangers.

Sustainable design features include a chilled beam cooling and heating system, daylighting, lighting occupancy sensors, and low-flow water fixtures.

This building was designed as a showcase for the university and specifically to attract an international business clientele for speaking engagements.
