IMEG’s San Francisco structural team (formerly Nishkian Menninger) provided structural services for Hotel VIA, a 89,000-sf, new hotel located at 144 King Street in San Francisco. This mid-rise boutique hotel project features 159 guest rooms and a restaurant/bar area at the first level.  The concrete building is 12 stories in height with a basement for hotel and guest services. The typical vertical load-carrying system for the main building consists of 7-1/2” thick post-tensioned concrete slabs spanning to reinforced concrete columns at a varied spacing. The foundation system consists of a mat foundation at the basement level. The lateral load resisting system will be special reinforced concrete shear walls at the cores and stairwells.
