IMEG provided engineering and design services for the University of California Riverside’s master plan, which included upgrades and extensions of the infrastructure utility distribution systems to serve existing and new construction on the University’s East Campus. The project scope included upgrades to the following systems:

  • Chilled water
  • Natural gas
  • Domestic water
  • Sanitary sewer
  • Electrical, power and low voltage
  • Control systems

Upgrades to the satellite chiller plant were provided to increase capacity to 6,000 tons, cooling tower capacity to 8,000 tons, and thermal energy storage to 6,000,000 gallons of chilled water, which reduces daytime electrical consumption. The central steam boiler plant was also upgraded to a total of 97,000 lbs/hr. This upgrade included a new 50,000 lbs/hr low-emission steam boiler and associated equipment. Electrical distribution upgrade of the older 4,160 volt system to the newer more reliable 12,000 volt system was also provided, as well as sanitary sewer, storm drain, water system improvements, grading, and roadway improvements.
