The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is a research facility where over 3,500 research projects are conducted in a year. In order to support their continual research, a new lab facility was required to aid researchers located in the South Campus. The new multi-disciplinary research facility is a five-story, 78,000-sf addition to the existing Harry S. Moss Clinical Science Building and includes animal research labs, dermatology labs, and support space.

The structural system used is cast-in-place concrete pan joist. Square concrete columns with beams were used to create moment frames in both primary directions. The foundation for this project can be described as a concrete grid stiffened foundation supported by straight drilled shaft piers bearing onto a weathered shale formation.
