IMEG’s environmental team was instrumental in the Saddle Creek project located near Fairview, South Dakota. With the creek’s bridge failing, Lincoln County selected IMEG to design a box culvert and redesign the road. Our environmental team submitted Section 404 permitting to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for review and approval. Because the creek contained an endangered species, the Topeka Shiner minnow, our environmental team was responsible for seining the stream to ensure none of these endangered animals were harmed during the construction phase.

Finally, IMEG staff performed a wetland delineation and worked with the civil engineering team to design a box culvert with the least environmentally damaging ramifications. We successfully met the project objectives while simultaneously minimizing the impact on the environment.
