This project consisted of a complete reconstruction of 24 city blocks in the city of Flandreau, which operates the seventh largest municipal utility in South Dakota. The project scope included new sanitary sewer main, sanitary sewer services, watermain, water services, storm sewer, curb/gutter, and asphalt roadway.

PHASE 1

The first phase consisted of the replacement of 1,480 feet of 6-inch inch water main, 1,400 feet of sanitary sewer, and construction of a new lift station to replace three older lift stations in the area. The direction of sanitary sewer was reversed and deepened to improve the overall system. IMEG provided land surveying, civil engineering design, construction administration, and construction observation.

PHASES 2 AND 3

Phases 2 and 3 were combined into one large project due to available funding, and included the reconstruction of 21 city blocks.

The water utility work consisted of the replacement of 7,300 feet of 8-inch water main and 600 feet of 6-inch water main in the base bid, with an additional 530 feet of 10-inch water main and 1,160 feet of 6-inch water main included in a bid alternative.

The sanitary sewer work consisted of 6,300 feet of 8-inch main, 565 feet of 10-inch main, 3,000 feet of 12-inch main, over 8,000 feet of sewer service line, and installation of 26 manhole structures. Some of the sanitary sewer main was installed to a depth of 24 feet.
