The new Nancy and Rich Kinder Building at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, has been named ENR 2021 Best of the Best Project in the Cultural Category. It is one of 20 “Best of the Best” winning projects selected from among more than 800 entries from across the U.S. The project previously won ENR Texas & Louisiana 2021 Project of the Year.

IMEG provided structural engineering and design services for the new, 237,000-sf, three-story building, which includes 102,366-sf of exhibition space for modern and contemporary art, a 215-seat theater, restaurant and café, underground parking, and pedestrian tunnels connecting it to the museum’s existing gallery buildings and new Glassell School of Art. The structural design features a concrete perimeter and steel support for each floor and the trussed roof.
