At IMEG, we’re proud to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day by spotlighting three engineers who bring their unique skills to help IMEG create positive outcomes for people, communities, and the planet.

Director of Structural Innovation Katie Goldberg, SE, PE, LEED AP

Katie was attracted to engineering’s combination of creativity, math, and problem solving. “Construction and the process of building a building has always fascinated me,” she said. “Engineering is not just about calculations, it’s about improving how people live, work, and interact with the built environment. Structural engineering especially appealed to me because every project we work on combines close collaboration with our clients and technical skills to bring our vision to life.”

A favorite project: Rung for Women Childcare Center

Senior Mechanical Engineer Melissa Wyckoff, PE

In college, Melissa was unsure what career she wanted to pursue. “I felt like everyone else knew what industry they wanted to be in, which made me feel a little lost,” she said. “I got lucky with a unique internship opportunity that introduced me to IMEG. I enjoyed math, and I knew mechanical engineering would open me up to a lot of career options, so I decided to go that route!”

A favorite project: Indiana University Health South

Civil Project Engineer Alessia Fuso, EIT

Alessia was interested in engineering early. “My dad worked for aerospace engineering companies, which first sparked my interest in engineering. I always looked up to him and hoped to follow in his footsteps. In high school, I had the opportunity to take engineering classes and work on a tiny house project, which helped me realize how much I enjoyed civil engineering. I helped build a counseling trailer for a partner school serving students experiencing homelessness, and I served as the project superintendent. I spent one semester planning the design with my teacher, and the next semester we built it. That experience made my decision to pursue civil engineering clear. Knowing that my work can support and positively impact the community is incredibly meaningful.”
