Susan VanBenschoten
Director of Urban Design, Planning & Engagement
Susan VanBenschoten, PE, is IMEG’s Director of Urban Design, Planning, and Engagement (UDPE) and a principal with the firm. She oversees the growth of IMEG’s UDPE practice and is responsible for integrating high-value planning services across the firm’s disciplines, markets, and regions.
Susan has almost 40 years of professional experience and is a recognized leader in the community planning and civil infrastructure industry, having previously run and grown a large planning firm in the Northeast. She is committed to improving communities, and her project background includes the management of complex multidisciplinary transportation planning/engineering projects for private developers, state agencies, transit agencies, municipalities, and institutions. Susan’s technical expertise is focused on promoting livable communities through the application of multi-modal transportation planning and design, land use and regulatory strategies, environmental stewardship, public involvement, economic development, and community enhancement.
She is a civil and environmental engineering graduate from Clarkson University and an MBA candidate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both in upstate New York.
