Earth Week in action: Celebrating IMEG’s year-round commitment to sustainability

Every week is Earth Week at IMEG, where we have a long-standing commitment to sustainability and are proud to be ranked #20 on ENR’s 100 Top Green Design Firms list.
IMEG’s latest sustainability initiative is the 2025 Whole Carbon Action Plan, a comprehensive strategy for achieving substantial operational and embodied carbon reductions in our projects. This 30-page document prioritizes tracking, measuring, and mitigating carbon emissions across all project phases. Through education, innovative decarbonization strategies, and advocacy, we are aiming to achieve our carbon goals for net zero whole carbon in MEP, civil, and structural systems by 2050. (Read the WCAP here.)
Our existing sustainability efforts to date already have saved hundreds of thousands of tons of carbon emissions for clients through innovative design and engineering solutions. We also have:
- Designed 500+ projects to meet LEED, WELL, Phius, and other high-performance certifications
- Pioneered the use of green technologies such as battery energy storage, geoexchange systems, and displacement ventilation
- Released a corporate sustainability plan, which guides each IMEG office in identifying and implementing local actions that support both a healthier environment
All our sustainability efforts support IMEG’s mission to create positive outcomes for people, our communities, and our planet.
