Emory Student Center wins top BD+C Team Award, ENR Regional Best Project
The LEED Platinum Emory University Student Center, an IMEG project, has won two prestigious awards – Building Design+Construction’s 2020 Platinum Team Award and an ENR Southeast 2020 Best Project Award.
BD+C’s jury was unanimous in choosing the student center as this year’s winner of the Platinum Award – the highest honor conferred in the contest. One of the judges, Anthony Grumbine, AIA, saluted Emory and the project team in the awards report for their “excellent involvement of students,” the high level of sustainable design, and the delicate preservation of Alumni Memorial Union Center.
Judges for ENR Southeast’s 2020 Best Projects competition named the student center the best project in the higher education/research category. It will now move on to compete in the national ENR Best of the Best Projects competition.
IMEG provided MEP and fire protection design along with building performance analysis for the $71.8 million, 115,000-sf student center, which opened in 2019.
