IMEG has been ranked #20 on ENR magazine’s list of the 2024 Top 100 Green Design Firms, up five spots from 2023.

The Top 100 companies are ranked according to revenue for design services generated in 2023 from projects that have been registered with or certified by a third-party organization that sets standards for measuring a building’s or facility’s environmental impact, energy efficiency, or carbon footprint. For IMEG, that amounted to 27 percent of the firm’s revenue last year—up from 25 percent the year before.

“We are very excited to now be in the top 20 greenest firms,” said Adam McMillen, IMEG’s Director of Sustainability. “This is a great reflection of our continued growth throughout the nation, our high-quality, dedicated team members, and IMEG’s ability to be in step with quickly growing market demand in all sectors. We look forward to continuing to lead the charge in the years to come.”

McMillen added that IMEG’s green design work is even greater than what is reflected in the rankings. “The majority of IMEG’s building design projects incorporate sustainable design—making our green design footprint much larger than the percentage of projects that are third-party certified.”

IMEG has more than 150 staff accredited in green certification systems and a large portfolio of LEED, WELL, and net zero projects. The firm also is pursuing measures to reduce the operational and embodied carbon of its projects and has committed to industry-wide decarbonization initiatives including SE 2050, the AIA 2030 Commitment, and the National Academy of Medicine Action Collaborative on Decarbonizing the U.S. Health Sector. The firm also is a founding member of the Carbon Leadership Forum’s MEP 2040 Challenge.
