Figge Art Museum unveils Evanescent Field, Iowa’s largest public art installation

IMEG provided electrical engineering services for Evanescent Field at the Figge Art Museum, the largest public art installation in Iowa.
Artist Leo Villareal used more than 1,000 full-color LED lights across 5,000 linear feet on all four sides of the building’s exterior. The lights are controlled by Villareal’s custom software, creating an ever-changing, never repeating, display. The artwork was unveiled at an event on May 17, 2025.
IMEG helped Villareal and lighting designer RDG Planning & Design with the facade lighting design.
