Vision Long Island has honored a Cameron Engineering, now IMEG, project with a Smart Growth Award for Community Leadership.

The awards celebrate projects that advance more livable, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible growth on Long Island.

Hofstra University Science and Innovation Center was given the Community Leadership Award. The $76.8 million, 75,000-sf facility is the most state-of-the-art high-tech addition to the university in 20 years.

Cameron Engineering, an IMEG company, provided structural, MEP, fire protection, and civil services for the building, which houses the university’s School of Nursing and adds new laboratories and research space for the DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science. The adaptable building provides space for a simulation nursing training center, simulated patient exam rooms, multi-use classrooms, engineering, computer and other science laboratories, administrative and technology-driven workspaces, and dedicated areas for interdisciplinary research.
