IMEG breaks into Top 50 on ENR’s 2025 list of Top 500 Design Firms

IMEG has reached an exciting new milestone, earning the #48 spot on Engineering News-Record’s 2025 Top 500 Design Firms list—marking the firm’s first time in the top 50 and a leap of more than 50 spots in just seven years.
The annual ENR ranking, based on revenue, features the leading firms in architecture, engineering, construction management, environmental services, and planning. In addition to its Top 50 ranking, IMEG can also claim the #1 spot among engineering-only firms in the General Building category, in which it placed #13 overall. The firm also landed at #38 among ENR’s Top 100 Pure Designers—firms focused solely on design services.
“This isn’t just a number—it’s a reflection of our momentum, our strategy, and the extraordinary talent across IMEG,” said IMEG President and CEO Paul VanDuyne. “To climb from #104 in 2018 to #48 today shows what’s possible when you stay focused on smart growth, prioritize innovation, and invest in people. We’re not just growing, we’re evolving—expanding our reach and capabilities to meet the complex challenges of tomorrow.”
IMEG’s trajectory has been fueled by a deliberate mix of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. In the past year alone, the firm welcomed nine new companies in 2024 and three more in early 2025, expanding its national footprint to include new locations in New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska.
“Our strength lies in being the nation’s largest local engineering firm,” added VanDuyne. “With more than 100 offices across the U.S., we combine the depth and resources of a national firm with the agility and relationships of local teams. This model allows us to deliver specialized expertise with a personal touch—meeting our clients where they are and helping them achieve transformative results.”
