The U.S. Land Port of Entry in Colombus, NM, has been named in AIA’s 2020 Cote Top Ten Awards, which recognizes 10 innovative projects for their integration of design excellence with environmental performance. 

The project was led by Richter Architects, with IMEG providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and security engineering design and services for the $68 million facility, which provides safe and efficient international entry processing for people and goods crossing the border. 

The building’s sustainability features include photo-electric power from 43 roof monitors, multi-zone variable refrigerant HVAC to transfer load across zones during simultaneous heating and cooling, energy recovery outside air units, hydronic solar panels for domestic water heating, high-efficiency LED lighting, occupancy and daylighting controls, and naturally ventilated spaces.
