IMEG engineers to present workshop at 2025 Lab Design Conference in Denver

IMEG’s Brandon Fortier, PE, LEED AP, and Ken Urbanek, PE, LEED AP, ASHRAE HBDP, will present the workshop, “Colorado’s First Net Zero Energy & All-Electric Life Sciences Building,” at the 2025 Lab Design Conference in Denver.
The presentation centers on Ridgeway Science & Technology, a unique core and shell life sciences laboratory and office building under development in Boulder, Colo. They will illustrate how the architecture, lab planning, and MEP design teams collaborated to promote flexibility for future tenants and meet the project’s aggressive net zero and all-electric energy targets.
They will also discuss:
- How hybrid solar (PV + thermal) allows for the daily heating and cooling exchange between daytime and nighttime operations. T
- How rapid performance modeling and detailed energy models optimized the HVAC systems using heat recovery chillers, highly efficient energy recovery, active chilled beams, dynamic air monitoring systems, and low-pressure drop design.
- How the HVAC and electrical systems will meet the mission-critical needs of future tenants.
As IMEG’s director of science & technology, Fortier work includes projects in the private industry, institutions of higher learning, and federal and local governments, including experience in high containment, cleanroom, life science, and vibration/temperature sensitive applications.
A client executive leading IMEG’s Denver office, Urbanek is responsible for ensuring project success in the Denver office. Ken has a broad design and construction background focused on high performance sustainable building design.
The session is Tuesday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m. MDT. Learn more.
