The Skystar Observation Wheel — a San Francisco-based Ferris wheel — has reopened after its move to Fisherman’s Wharf.

IMEG provided structural engineering services for the move. Work included consulting with the Port Authority on its placement, geotechnical and seismic consulting, the design of footings, grade beams, tie-down retrofits, and wheel review.

The 465,000-pound attraction, which has a circumference of 500 feet, was disassembled, moved from Golden Gate Park to Fisherman’s Wharf, reassembled, inspected, reviewed, and opened in two weeks, with its re-opening timed to the 2023 APEC Summit in San Francisco.
