IMEG project featured in Modern Steel Construction

IMEG’s engineering design of the new Rockford Public Library in Rockford, IL, is featured in the April issue of Modern Steel Construction magazine.
Written by IMEG Senior Client Executive Eric Reinsch, SE, PE, the article “Keeping It Light” focuses on the creative structural design and detailing that gives the facility its bold yet slender appearance. The feature outlines the use of structural steel in the building and the challenge of designing the building’s signature cantilevered glass box.
The new library was constructed on a remediated site along the river, which posed additional structural challenges.
