IMEG has won an ASHRAE Region VI 1st Place Technology Award for the engineering design of Iowa State University’s LEED Gold renovation of Marston Hall. The entry won the Existing Education Facility Category and will now advance to the global society-level competition.

Projects were judged based on their energy efficiency, indoor air quality and thermal comfort, innovation, operation and maintenance, cost effectiveness, environmental impact, quality of presentation, and the judges’ own prerogative.

The 65,000-sf, $18.7 million project is home to Iowa State’s College of Engineering and is part of a larger strategic plan to help attract potential students and faculty to the school as well as to help the college remain competitive. The renovation included a near total remodeling of the interior including the auditorium, classrooms, and infrastructure. In addition to providing engineering design, IMEG also provided an energy modeling analysis and LEED Measurement and Verification services to significantly improve the building’s energy usage.
