IMEG project wins ‘Best of B3’ IEQ award
The Minnesota State University, Mankato Clinical Sciences Building was awarded a Best of B3 Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) award for achieving high levels of occupant satisfaction in the sustainable post-occupancy evaluation process.
IMEG provided MEP design and services for the $27 million, 80,000-sf facility, which provides training for students as well as health services for the community. The building was designed to respond to the unique environmental conditions for its diverse mix of occupancy types. Based on student responses to the post-occupancy survey, an IEQ score of 6.21 (on a scale from 1 to 7) was achieved.
“Best of B3” stands for the State of Minnesota’s “Buildings, Benchmarks, and Beyond” programs that were developed for and are required on state-funded projects. The programs are designed to increase energy efficiency and sustainability in the state, which is leading the nation in requiring 80 percent more energy–efficient state buildings in an effort to have all state construction carbon neutral by 2030.
