Three IMEG projects were named ACEC New York 2025 Engineering Excellence Award winners in their respective categories. IMEG’s work on the State University of New York’s Campus Energy Master Plans received the highest honor of the competition, the Platinum Award.

IMEG provided energy and concept design services for the Platinum-award-winning Clean Energy Master Plans (CEMPS) for SUNY’s Potsdam, Plattsburgh, Canton, and Polytechnic (Utica) campuses. While each master plan was individualized, all four energy planning documents were developed following energy analysis and reduction recommendation best practices. These CEMPs will guide the owner as they take proactive steps to help the SUNY system achieve its carbon neutrality goals and comply with New York State’s Climate Act. Read more.

The Milne Library project on the SUNY Geneseo campus won a Gold award. Pathfinder, now IMEG, provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design, energy services, and construction administration for a comprehensive building review, program study, and the deep energy retrofit. The project was the first deep energy retrofit the campus completed under the State University Construction Fund’s Directive 1B-2, and one of the first in the SUNY system.

The Borden Avenue Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project in Long Island City also won a Gold award. The BESS project was constructed to support the goals set forth by New York State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), which aims for 70% of the state’s electricity to derive from sustainable sources by 2030 and be 100% carbon-free by 2040. The state also has announced goals to install 6,000 MW of battery energy storage by 2030. IMEG provided structural, demolition, civil, fire alarm, fire suppression, mechanical, local electrical, and construction management services for the 4.8 MW / 24.8 MWh battery energy storage system which was one of the first of its kind in New York City.
