Nishkian Menninger now IMEG provided structural design for Survey Monkey’s new rooftop terrace at the firm’s headquarters in San Mateo, CA.

The 7,500-square-foot terrace provides amenities for meetings, breaks, fitness, lunch, and happy hours. The space features a series of raised planters and large pots for additional plants and trees to simulate a residential “backyard” – which replaced the original goal of a large rooftop garden after structural analysis showed the 200,000-sf building could not support the required soil volume.

The biophilic-designed outdoor space is the final component of the company’s LEED Gold certified headquarters building, for which IMEG served as engineer of record.
