IMEG has earned the #51 spot on Engineering News-Record’s 2026 Top 500 Design Firms list.

The annual ENR ranking, based on revenue, features the leading firms in architecture, engineering, construction management, environmental services, and planning. In addition to its #51 ranking, IMEG can also claim the #1 spot among engineering-only firms in the General Building category, in which it placed #15 overall. The firm also landed at #42 among ENR’s Top 100 Pure Designers—firms focused solely on design services, and, for the first time, entered the Top 20 Design Firms in the Manufacturing sector, ranked at #20.

“This ranking isn’t just a number—it reflects the consistency of our performance, the strength of our strategy, and the exceptional talent across IMEG,” said IMEG President and CEO Paul VanDuyne. “Our position at #51 underscores the discipline behind our growth which we’ve maintained since rising from #104 in 2018. By continuing to prioritize innovation and invest in our people, we’re not just sustaining our momentum—we’re building the capabilities needed to take on the challenges ahead.”

IMEG’s success comes from a deliberate mix of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. The firm welcomed five new companies in 2025 and four more in the first quarter of 2026, expanding its national footprint to include new locations in Arizona, Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia, and enhancing specialties in aviation, mission-critical facilities, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), underground infrastructure services, and adding fuel system design.

“Our strength lies in being the nation’s largest local engineering firm,” added VanDuyne. “With more than 100 offices across the U.S., we combine the depth and resources of a national firm with the agility and relationships of local teams. This model allows us to deliver specialized expertise with a personal touch—meeting our clients where they are and helping them achieve transformative results.”
