IMEG has been certified as an SE 2050 signatory for 2025. IMEG joined the SE 2050 Commitment Program in 2021, pledging its structural engineers will work to understand, reduce, and ultimately eliminate embodied carbon in their projects by 2050.

Each year, IMEG submits the firm’s Embodied Carbon Action Plan (ECAP) for SE 2050 certification. This year the firm submitted a 2025 Whole Carbon Action Plan (WCAP), which provides a multidisciplinary strategy for not only reducing embodied carbon in projects but also operational carbon.

The WCAP outlines carbon-reducing strategies for the coming year for IMEG’s structural, civil, and mechanical projects that will lead to meeting intermittent goals over the next several years—ultimately achieving net zero embodied and operational carbon in all IMEG projects by 2050.

The SE 2050 Challenge was developed by the Carbon Leadership Forum and the SE 2050 Commitment Program developed by the Sustainability Committee of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
